In any relationship when two are sitting across from each other and calmly discussing issues, often there are long periods of silence.

This happenned to me and me girlfriend Anne: my chin was resting on the back of my closed right hand and her right hand was at her right cheek. After a few minutes of silence I wanted to say something while bringing my hand down: at the very same time she was going to say something while bringing her hand down.

Our open hands met in midair and a distinct clap was heard.

My name is Martha and my brief encounter with a so called coincidence occurred on a beautiful Fall day in 2011 at a graveyard where at least 700 people are buried.
My friend and I began walking around a stately cemetery looking for family ancestors. She was near a fence about 20 feet in front of me and 40 feet to the side of me when she started talking about a mutual friend of ours that had died. His name was Steve. His death had touched both of us in a profound way.
At the exact second, she said his name (Steve) I looked down and found myself standing on Steve’s stepfathers grave. She swore that she didn’t have a clue that I was near his grave. They had different surnames, and she didn’t know his stepfather’s name.
This was not a coincidence or was it?

I had been writing a text message, while sitting at work in a restaurant, to a guy that I’m dating. I decided that it’s useless to bother to send it.
I wrote ,” Why can’t you be on my side? Why don’t you support me?”
Well, not 5min later, in walks a party of 4. Nobody else was there to seat them. I am walking them past one dining area to offer choices for their seat.
“you can sit here and look out at the bay, or I have space up top.”
“I’m on your side”, one of the guests said.
“oh, weird! I thought
“I support you-”
I got goosebumps and my eyes teared up.
“your a good woman. Don’t ever forget it.”
So, of course, this was very amazing to hear the same words coming from a stranger. It was unrelated to anything that I’d said.

About four years ago my wife and I went on a short vacation from Seattle to the coast of Oregon. Don’t remember the exact town, but that’s not real important.

We had been planning to buy a new digital camera and since Oregon has no sales tax, we stopped at Costco and bought one, nothing special I think it was aNikon Coolpix Camera.

After unloading the car we decided to head to the beach and take some pictures wit our new camera. Out in the water ther is this huge rock they call Haystack Rock. Pretty cool so we took our first picture with the new camera of this big rock.

When we got home from the vacation we took the disk that came with the camera and downloaded it into the computer so we view and download the pictures from the new camera.
After the disk did its thing, up pops this picture the Nikon Company had used to promote the camera. Guess what? It was Haystack Rock from the Oregon coast. The same Rock we had taken our first picture with the new camera.

A few years ago I was in a Tavern in Oak Harbor WA. called the Harbor Light Tavern.

On the wall behind the bar were hooks with a bunch of beer mugs that looked about all the same.

I asked the bartender if they were for sale and she said no, that there was a woman in town who made them and you could order one and have your name put on the bottom so everytime you came in the bar you could use your own mug.

I asked to see one and she handed it to me. I looked at it then turned it over and it said Jack Wolfe. This just so happens to be my name.

I told the bartender this and showed her my drivers license. We were both stunned. I met Jack later the week at the bar where the bartender introduced us.

Today I was bringing boxes of books up from our basement into the house. The radio was on in the house. When I put one of the boxes down on the floor I was curious about a book which was face down in the box – I didn’t know what it was. I turned it over and it was Chaucer’s Millers Tale. Guess what was playing on the radio? Procul Harum and Whiter shade of pale, with the words And so it was that later,
As the miller told his tale,
That her face at first just ghostly,
Turned a whiter shade of pale.
I had to sit down, I was so amazed.
