I have experienced coincidences too numerous to keep track, but I believe the most remarkable one was the first which happened about 15 years ago. I throw dice for inspiration when I have time to fill. At this point in my dice-obsessed career I was using a biographical dictionary and the throw landed me at the leader of a New England Indian tribe, the only tribe totally independent from the BIA then. I decided to visit their Penobscot village while also seeing my Boston cousin. After flying to N.E., I took a bus up to Maine. I didn’t count on reaching the village on Columbus Day and was upset that it was totally shut down. The trip had been great so I decided to “write off” the Indian project and return to LA. Imagine my surprise when another Penobscot leader was featured on national news a couple days later explaining why the tribe closes their doors to non-Indian tourists on Columbus Day. (Almost all my coincidences have involved the dice.)

I have a specific friend that I go out with and she’s the only girl I do go out with and it’s normally on Thursdays and Saturdays. This past Friday we decided to go out and went to a new hang out. While standing around a guy came up to me asked me if my name was Nicole. I said yes it was. He said we use to chat online some in the past. He told me his screen name and I did remember him. However, it’d been months since we last talked and when we did talk it was only like 2–3 times. Then Sunday I was getting ready to leave to get my lunch for the day when my cell phone rang. It said private number on it and I almost didn’t answer it but thought it might be the new guy so I did and it was my friend wanting to know if I wanted to have lunch with her. This in itself was weird because other than go out, we NEVER do anything with each other, much less have lunch on a Sunday. So, we went to the mall for lunch and who do we run into? The guy from Friday night!!

I am a writer and my wife met this man at a bank, who had overheard her talking about writing and he invited me (indirectly) to a writer’s booksigning at someone’s house here in Fresno. (I had been living away from Fresno for 35 years and was raised mostly in the NorthWest.) Anyway, we go to this booksigning and my wife overhears someone at the table talking about this ‘dude’ whose parents were really, really old and who lived at the corner in a red brick house on 4th and Illinois (where I was raised by my Great Grandparents for a year or so.) I break into the conversation and realize that he is a childhood friend of mine from the 3rd grade! The people at the signing were amazed as were we. We still keep in contact and he is not a professor in Stockton.

I was at my friends house andrews and he drew a picture of the moth man. 2 days later at my friends house me and my friend andrew and josh were throwing water bombs at eachother and at houses and we threw one at a fence. the shape the water was splated in was the exact same shape as the mothman andrew drew 2 days erlier. On one of the fence pailings was two semetrical eyes that looked like the scream(the movie scream) eyes, thoes two shapes just happened to be in the head of the water splat. We happened to also pick up a leaf that looked just like the splat. The next day i went home and i got a phone call from joshes mum saying that josh is grounded for a month for throwing waterboms at houses and she spoke to my mum and i was grownded too and she rang andrews mum too and he was grownded aswel. Andrew and I talked our way outa the punnishment but josh remained busted because the mothman was at his house. so the mothman cymbol is bat luck.

Many years ago, while in the States visiting my father, I bought a copy of the National Enquirer – or something equally intellectual (I can’t remember) and there was an advice page from a psychic giving very specific information to people – one person wanted to know where their engagement ring was and the psychic told her to look in the dog turd in the left hand corner of her yard. I was surprised at how detailed it was – it didn’t allow much room for a mistake.
So, back in England, I was mentioning this to a friend as we walked down a busy street and I said ‘maybe I should write to her and ask where I could find some money.’
I looked down and stuck to my shoe was a ten pound note! (I have tried it many times since and it never worked again – unfortunately).

My friend and I are in all the same classes in school. We used to be best friends but we don’t hang out a lot after school anymore. For the past year, we are able to finish each other sentences, think the same things, and blurt out the same things at the same time. It may be coincidence but this happens like 5–10 times a day. We aren’t really sure what is happening, but it seems to be coming up more frequently.

I had started talking to a guy named Ash, who i met on a website for singles. He would email me about once every other day, before we actually met in person. He would begin each email with a verse from what i thought was a poem, and he slipped my name into it, making the poem about me.
Once we met in person, he asked me what my full name was, and I told him Kimberly. He then told me that the verses from the begining of each email were actually from a song, and the song was about a Kimberly. So, he asked my last name, and i told him it was Austin. He stopped walking and turned to me with disbelief. He then told me that the song he had been sending me was called “Kimberly Austin” and it was by Porno For Pyros. I had never heard of it, and was somewhat skeptical. So i went home later that night, and downloaded it. Sure enough, he was telling the truth.
Crazy!

My friend’s mother was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer late in 2003. During the final few weeks of her life, I spent quite a bit of time with her, keeping her company while her daughter was at work. After my friend’s mother passed away, my friend gave me an end table her mother had had in her room at the retirement home she was at. I did not realize until I brought the end table home that it was the exact match to the coffee table in my living room, which belonged to my son, who had gotten it from his friend’s aunt.
