A few days ago, a friend of mine handed me an article from a local paper with my name mentioned in it.

I glanced at the date the article was published – it was my birthday.

My brother and I were laughing about a friend who
had a messy condo. On his condo balcony, 20 stories
up, he had long-dead bushy brown plant in a planter
that rolled around in the wind. I joked that he was
the only guy in Chicago with tumbleweed on his
balcony.

We had a rock station playing on radio at the time.
All of a sudden we heard the song “Tumbling
Tumbleweed” begin played! We both looked at the
radio in disbelief. I don’t know why a rock format
station would have played that very old
country/western tune at just that momemt, but it
really happened.

My friend was telling a story about her aunt, a hospital inpatient, whose room number was 410. Another distant family member, no relation to her aunt, was injured and hospitalized in a different hospital, and his room number was
410.

I remarked “What a coincidence.” She answered curtly, “There are no coincidences.” I find that hard to believe. This friend is always talking about spirits and angels and wants to believe this occurrence was more than mere coincidence. She angered me with that remark and her naivete.

I was looking at the most recent messages that had
been posted on an investment message board. One message caught my eye, and it was asking if anyone knew anything about superconductor companies. I only looked at the message for a moment or two.

In the meantime, my television was on in the background and a Disney type movie was playing on a local channel. Shortly, after I left the message concerning superconductors, I changed the TV channel to another channel, both stations having the same owner.

Well, just as soon as I had turned to the other TV channel, another movie was playing, and Lloyd Bridges was asking Tom Hanks: “What do you know about superconductors?”

I didn’t bother to look up the name of the movie. On second thought, before I finish this, I will look on the TV listings for my city, and let you know the name of the movie. It was “Joe Versus the Volcano”. I hope my coincidence is meaningless, and doesn’t mean a volcano is about to violently abrupt and
destroy a nearby city, etc.

I’m a newspaper editor that found your site yesterday
after someone I know mentioned coincidences. So I read what’s here and thought, “Hmmm, been a while since I had one.”

In the afternoon I had an interview with a women I’m doing a story on who imports Russian hand-made, hand-painted items. One of the them was a lovely hand-painted ballerina on mother of pearl set in a sterling silver mount. I was
thinking to myself that I would love to buy it for my daughter but the price was $56. So I thought, ‘Well, I’ll go to a few events she’ll be at and hopefully the pin will be there for me to purchase.’ After the interview I saw her out and when I returned to my office I spotted a black thing on the floor leaning against my desk. I picked it up and it was the very same pin I liked attached to its display card. Out of 15 pins, she dropped that one. She left a small birch bark box for me to show visitors at my office, so I called and left a message
that the pin was here. Maybe by the time she returns for the box and the pin, I’ll have enough money to purchase it. How about that? The very day I read about coincidences, I have one!

A few years back, I was reading something in Unsolved Mysteries about ‘Spontaneous Human Combustion’ and irrationally (I had a condition) that the aforementioned phenomena would occur to me. When I got back from school I turned on the TV and on ‘Arthur C. Clark’s Mysterious Universe’ the feature was on, you guessed it, Spontaneous Human Combustion (S.H.C.). Not long afterwards, I saw yet
another show on the phenomenon.

Hi my name is Diane. I have had many varied coincidences but the most recent one happened last year. A friend of mine from work and I were planning on going to Florida at the same time, him with his family, and I was flying down to pick up my daughter who stays with her grandparents in the summer. We live in NY. I kept kidding with him saying would’nt it be funny if we ran into each other in Florida, knowing that we wouldn’t because Florida is a big state and he was staying at Disney the whole time and we
were in Ocoee Fl. My parents and my daughter and I were driving back to NY, and were having a hard time finding hotels, it was a holiday weekend. Finally we found a hotel in Virginia. We all decided to go to the hotel next door because they were having Karoake and we wanted to check it out. as we were walking in the door who was coming out but… you guessed it my friend from work. If I would have been one second later I would have missed him..

When I was a kid, our family went to Florida for vacation. While we were there we stopped at a K-Mart for some beach supplies and who should we run into but our next door neighbor from home. Also, I run a used bookstore in Tennessee and there are never really all that many people in the store at the same time. One day we had two men browsing in the history section and they got to talking and it turns out they were both from the same little obscure town in Eastern Europe.

I communicate with a man I have known since kindergarten. We had not been in touch for 20 years until 6 months ago. We live 9 hours away from each other. His sister-in-law was married at his house in Oct and read a poem to her husband. This friend had told me how pretty the poem was,but had never been able to get the words from her. I was in a book store looking at poetry books and bought one. I e-mailed this poem that best descibed how I felt about him.

The poem I-e-mailed him is the exact poem she had read at the wedding. Out of 412 poems in that book, I picked that poem ! Unbelievable..I still can’t comprehend that happening. There have been other things happen, but this beats them all….
